 Effective Christian Presence and Enterprise
What makes Christian engagement in community transformation effective? How can effective community work be developed?
From one area of the country come some strong and useful guides for others.
Read the groundbreaking findings of 2 years of research with 19 innovative Christian groups in the Yorkshire and Humber region. The ECPE project, a joint piece of work of the Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire and the Humber with Faithworks, has aimed to identify, learn from, encourage and sustain enterprising forms of Christian "presence", looking at 19 very diverse "presences" from across the region, encompassing social enterprises, local churches, Christian charities, community projects, arts-initiatives, and much more.
We have asked: What are the assets and drivers? What are the barriers? What can be replicated elsewhere? The report focuses on the new kinds of leadership the church needs; the importance of volunteers and the need for churches to improve their practices; the centrality of partnership; the need for more flexible resources; the question of sustainability; the importance of the highest quality; and the need for better team approaches.
