BIBLEFRESH: a mission potential for all churches

Jim Currin, Secretary for Evangelisation at Churches Together in England warmly commends Biblefresh as an initiative to engage the church and general population at large in the text of the Bible. Rob Cotton, from Bible Society, heads up the initiative with EA, and is a member of the CTE Group for Evangelisation. Members of the group a keen to support the initiative as a major opportunity for mission and evangelisation in 2011.

Rob Cotton works with Krish Kandiah who writes:

'We are a movement of agencies, colleges, festivals and publishers working together to help the church regain passion, confidence and appetite for the Bible.

The Evangelical Alliance has spearheaded Biblefresh, gathering together nearly 100 partners, including the Baptist Union and the Methodist Church, with backing from a diverse range of high profile Bible champions, including Bishop Tom Wright, Dr Christina Baxter, Rev Nims Obunge and Terry Virgo.

Timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible, the movement provides churches with lots of practical and inspiring ways to engage with the Bible.

We are praying for 2011 to be a year of transformation and invite you to join in, by taking the following actions:

  • Sign up for monthly e-updates, to keep you up to date with the latest resources and events – including a pack of material for a special service this autumn.
  • Download the Leaders’ Guide, which takes you through the four pledges at the heart of a church’s commitment to Biblefresh - as well as giving you a taster of what your church could do.
  • Buy the book, which is jam packed with stories, thoughtful articles and creative suggestions to help you engage with God’s Word in fresh ways. Includes contributions by: John Stott, Rob Bell, Amy Orr Ewing, Eugene Peterson, Rose Dowsett, Bob Hartman, Krish Kandiah and Siku. All for under a fiver! All profits will fund a Bible translation for the Bissa people in Burkina Faso.
  • Join us on facebook and twitter

We hope that you too can make 2011 a Biblefresh year.

Every blessing
