Big screens, Insurance etc
Big Screens
A focal point of most open crowd community festivals is likely to be a 'big screen' of one sort or another. The BBC big screens in city centres have become common place and much appreciated, especially when an event is held around them.
For local festivals where the local group of churches are organising an event, a specially built big screen can be purchased. In many places a data projector is connected to a computer and projected on to the white wall of a house of back of garage!
The BBC have decided to allow showing of 2012 Games broadcast in public places without a special licence.

Insurance
Information about insurance is being sought, so it is most applicable to churches working together for the 2012 Games. Churches Together groups have insurance provision as a matter of course, for their many other events, often held in the open air and on non-church premises. Contact your own insurance company and / local Churches Together group for particular advice for your planned event.
Health and Safety, CRB, and other legal matters of good practice
It goes without saying that all events where people come together, need forethought and planning for everyone to be protected. Local community and church leaders will all be familiar with legal advice and procedures for best practice. One off events are no exception, especially when large numbers of people are expected to congregate. All necessary and advisable procedures should be followed. In particular, proper planning is needed to agree how these important issues are addressed when more than one agency, group, church is involved.
