1277 - National strategy for Christian Toddler Groups1277 logo

A new website for Christian-run Parent and Toddler Groups has been launched by an alliance of Christian agencies and denominations. The vision of this alliance is to enable ‘universal access to distinctive, excellent, safe, Christian-led Parent & Toddler Groups which are demonstrating God’s love at the heart of their communities’.

The 1277 - Make Them Count organisation is so named after the average number of days between a child’s birth and the start of formal education. The website will allow Parent & Toddler Group leaders to register, and to be kept informed of relevant forthcoming events, training and resources. It will also help those looking for a local Parent & Toddler Group.

There are an estimated 27,000 Parent & Toddler Groups run by Christians, mainly using local Church facilities. These Groups provide support and care to a large percentage of the nation’s preschoolers and their carers.

Organisations involved in 1277 - Make them Count include Care for the Family, Scripture Union, Mothers Union, Who let the Dads Out, the Church of England, the Catholic Church in England & Wales, the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Methodist Church, the Salvation Army and the United Reformed Church amongst others.
