Coventry Charterhouse service
For probably the first time since the monks left the Coventry Charterhouse in 1539, an ecumenical service of evening prayer has been held.
The Anglican Bishop and the Roman Catholic Dean of Coventry conducted the service in the house which the Tudor's created out of the monastery.
Charterhouse Coventry was left to the people of Coventry and has been aquired by trustees who plan to open it up to visitors. Part of the hope is that the remains of the old cells may become part of the visitor experience exploring silence and prayer.
