New Housing Areas
CTE has set up a co-ordinating group to look at the church in New Housing Areas, in response to the challenge of creating community especially where estates on green field sites of 1000+ dwellings are proposed and no community provision currently exists. The group is therefore called the Churches Coordinating Group for New Housing Areas.
Although the group neeeds to concentrate it's concern on the geographically large 'new communities', the work is relevant to all churches where any new housing estate is proposed or being built, as they same issues are of common concern.
How does the church generally mission in this context?
How can local church leaders gain information and advice?
What is the appropriate model of church for the future?
This co-ordinating group brings together the key people from the churches involved in these issues. They have organised various conferences and collated various papers in the past, and built a network of contacts across the country.. This is all represented in the new website just launched for the purpose: www.cinha.net.
The CTE staff member serving the group is Jim Currin.
