Minority Ethnic Christian Affairs
Welcome to the Minority Ethnic Christian Affairs (MECA) section of the Churches Together in England (CTE) website. Here you will find information for, by and about Black and Minority Ethnic Christians, churches and agencies. MECA seeks to harness the God-given gift of plurality evident in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic Christian Church in England, ensuring that all parts of the Body of Christ are equally involved in the mission of the church.
The vision of MECA is to see a Church in England in which Black and other Minority Ethnic (BME) Christian communities play their full part in the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The mission of MECA is to work with Christian communities in England of African, Asian, Caribbean and other heritages with a view to harnessing their rich diversity in the service of the mission of the Church in the world.
The work of MECA revolves around four main strategies:
Stimulating and facilitating networking between Christian communities in Britain and Ireland of African, Asian, Caribbean and other heritages.
Stimulating and facilitating networking between Black Minority Ethnic and mainstream Christian communities
Providing a focus for resources for and about Christian communities of African, Asian, Caribbean and other heritages
Focusing on six key issues: Economic, Environment, Media, Political, Social, and Theological
The work of MECA is supported and guided by a Reference Group who are drawn from across the Churches in the UK
