The Hayes, otherwise know to many as the Swanwick Conference Centre, is the place where 30 years ago national church leaders presented the English churches with the Swanwick Declaration.
You can read about the major event and read the text on the CTE website here. The 1987 event marked the transition from a Council of Churches model to a Churches Together model and is a major foundation milestone in the formation of Churches Together in England.

Visitors to The Hayes will find the plaque, all nice and clean, beside the path on the way to the Chapel.
