Christians all over the world are praying this week, 18th-25th January, for Christian Unity. From large events in cathedrals to tiny services in small chapels, the same story will be heard.
This year the material, available from Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, comes from Malta and it has been an opportunity to listen to the story, from the Acts of the Apostles, of St Paul's shipwreck in Malta and the 'unusual kindness' of the Maltese. To this day, Paul's witness still bears fruit, as Malta is possibly the most Christian country in the world. According to World Population Review, it has a 'Catholic population of 98%. There is one church for every 1,000 residents.'
Many services have enlisted the help of children or drama groups to build a boat in the church as the Maltese suggest. It has been an excellent opportunity for outreach to those who otherwise would not have come to the service.
