GfE 'Signpost' Resource Paper: Evangelisation in New Housing Areas
'Help, what are we going to do with this new housing development?'
Whether it be a small development on an old factory site, to a new town in the countryside, new housing is a challenge to the church seeking to reach out with the good news of Jesus Christ. How do we all respond?
The Government call for 3 million new homes in England, overtaken by the current economic climate, counterbalanced by recent headlines re money made available for social housing, all indicate that the new housing agenda is very much in the news.
New housing is not just an agenda for our wider society, it is a high on the agenda of individual churches and Churches Together too. At a national level a Coordinating Group brings together the denominational and specialist representatives; at regional and county level many key church leaders are involved in the planning networks; while at the local 'coal face' groups of churches working together ask 'how can we engage in the new housing challenge on our doorstep?'
Working closely with the Churches Coordinating Group for New Housing Areas, the Churches Coordinating Group for Evangelisation have produced a Resource Paper to help with this task. As the name suggests it 'signposts' where help is at hand.
